Seribu Bayang Purnama
Set in a rural farming community, Seribu Bayang Purnama portrays the generational tension between two farmer families Budi (Nugie) and his son Putro (Marthino Lio), who uphold traditional farming methods, and Gatot (Whani Darmawan) with his son Dodit (Aksara Dena), who embrace modern agricultural techniques. The differing philosophies spark escalating conflict and deepen emotional divides between the two households.
Complicating matters further, Putro develops a romantic relationship with Ratih (Givina), Gatot’s daughter, bringing personal stakes into an already volatile situation. Amid these family disputes, the film also highlights the broader anxieties of farmers, including rising production costs, the high price of fertilizers, and the urgent need to preserve the delicate balance between humans and nature. These socioeconomic challenges push the families to the brink, forcing them to struggle in survival mode.
Director Yahdi Jamhur drawing on more than 30 years of experience in journalism and documentary film making delivers a deeply authentic portrayal of rural life, rarely represented in national cinema. His approach offers a raw and unfiltered look at the social tensions and environmental dilemmas that come with agricultural modernization.
This film aims to raise public awareness about the struggles of farmers and the critical importance of ecological harmony. LSF has rated it suitable for All Ages (SU). (&i)
