Ipung (Ardhana Jovin), is a boy living with his grandparents, Mbah Lanang (Landung Simatupang) and Mbah Wedok (Sri Isworowati) in a rural Javanese village, Kertorangking. Mbah Lanang trains his pet birds to compete in local Whistling Birds Contests. Often hearing his grandfather whistle around the house, Ipung picks up the habit even after dusk. In Javanese tradition, whistling after the Maghrib prayer (singsot) is considered taboo. Despite warnings from Mbah Wedok, Ipung ignores the advice until mysterious and terrifying events begin to haunt him, leading to nightmares and fear.
