LSF Age Rating Policy Revisited: An Effort to Adapt Without Forgetting Local Values
Jakarta — The Indonesian Film and Television Society (Lembaga Sensor Film) is conducting an in-depth review of the current film age classification (rating) system. This follows various input from the public, education experts, and filmmakers who believe the old system is less relevant to the social and psychological development of Indonesian youth.
In a public discussion forum titled "Film Ratings: Relevance and Cultural Context," many parties suggested that the classification be adjusted to reflect the digital context, the lifestyles of Generation Z, and the increasingly diverse range of educational content.
LSF emphasized that the change does not mean permissiveness towards negative content. "We remain committed to local moral, religious, and cultural values, but the system must be flexible, scientific, and practically applicable across all platforms," an LSF spokesperson asserted.
